Good morning.  I bet you’re pretty sleepy.  Maybe a little hungover.  Don’t worry, JT’s got this.

It’s been eight days since Justin Timberlake dropped “Can’t Stop the Feeling.”  Multiply that number by 33 and that’s approximately how many times I’ve boogied to this beat.  It was the perfect Derby present, one I may have abused and annoyed my friends with, but I don’t care.  You can’t hide the positive vibes.  Just like all of the celebrities in the video, you gotta ignore all cares and just dance, dance, dance.

Now that you’ve listened to it once, twice, maybe three times, I know you’re in a good mood, ready for a wonderful Saturday.  Here’s what’s on the slate (hint: not much).

The Real T Jones is Back in Town

The Houston Rockets’ Terrence Jones is back in Lexington this evening.  Nothing says “offseason” quite like baseball in the summertime.  Jones is embracing it, throwing out the first pitch at tonight’s Lexington Legends ballgame.  Arrive before the 6:35 first pitch to see if Jones has the juice from the mound.

The EYBL Continues

This weekend the Nike recruiting circuit turns to Hampton, Virginia.  It won’t be as newsworthy as previous events because coaches cannot attend, but you might hear or thing or two from Cal’s top targets throughout the day.

Matthew Mitchell Announces a new Assistant

If you’ve been paying close attention, I think we saw this coming awhile ago, but this morning Mitchell made it official.  Former Arizona head coach and Kentucky assistant, Niya Butts, is returning to Lexington.  She’s excited to be back.

“Kentucky has always been a very special place for me and I am thrilled to be back,” Butts said. “There are few times in this profession that you get a chance to return to a place as unique and rewarding as Kentucky has been to me, especially getting to work with some great friends in Matthew and Kyra (Elzy). I’m excited to get started and hit the recruiting trail.”

As bad news trickles out of the program, good news trickles in with another small, positive step forward for the program.

Huh?

Thanks for making Star Wars nerds look bad, MLS.

The NBA Combine Continues

They will not officially end the combine until after tomorrow, but they’ve gotta be running out of stuff to do, right?  If anything else happens worth noting, we’ll let you know.

No Playoff Basketball

I would normally say, “at least we have playoff basketball” but that’s not the case today.  I’m not going to lament anymore on today’s lack of sports, so I’ll just tell you that there’s a Game 7 tomorrow.  The Heat got a win last night to give Toronto a chance to clinch at home.  Patrick Patterson started for the Raptors last night, posting 8 points and 8 rebounds.  You can watch him tomorrow at 3:30 on ABC.

UK Baseball takes an L

It was a bad one too.  They lost 14-2 at sixth-ranked Ole Miss to drop the series.  They’ll finish up the season with a game at Murray State Tuesday before the season-ending series against Missouri next weekend.  It could very well be the end of the road for the BatCats unless they make some noise in the SEC Tournament.

The softball team had an unfortunate ending earlier this week in the SEC Tournament, but they’re postseason is secured.  They’ll find out where they fall during tomorrow’s Selection Sunday.

Mark Richt was in an Italian Jeans Commercial

Not recently.  The new Miami head football coach was jump-roping for “Jesus Jeans” back in 1982.  Of all the strange news from this week, this might be the most unexpected.
