Cameron Calhoun will soon announce where he will be attending college. After taking a couple of trips to Kentucky in the last week, the Wildcats are in excellent position to secure a commitment.

A 6-foot-2 three-star cornerback from Cincinnati’s Winton Woods High School, 2023 prospect Cameron Calhoun shared on social media that he will be announcing his college decision, Wednesday, March 30 at noon. Calhoun has 19 scholarship offers from the likes of Boston College, West Virginia and Georgia Tech. Leading into his decision the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) has Kentucky as the school to beat.

Calhoun could be UK’s Latest Winton Woods Product

As you might expect, Vince Marrow is leading Kentucky’s recruiting efforts. The Big Dog was able to get Calhoun to Lexington for two visits in a three-day span last week, setting up the Cats to close the deal.

Marrow has spent platy of time recruiting at Calhoun’s high school. Winton Woods is the home of Mike Edwards and Chris Oats. Calhoun is not the only player Marrow is currently recruiting on the roster. The Warriors’ other cornerback, 2023 three-star prospect Jermaine Mathews, is in the middle of a tightly contested battle between UK and Cincinnati. Further down the line, rising sophomore Raphael Greene is in Marrow’s crosshairs. Kentucky extended a scholarship offer to the 6-foot-6, 340 pound offensive tackle following his freshman season.

Calhoun Checks Boxes at Cornerback

Early in his Kentucky tenure, Mark Stoops relied on big cornerbacks, like Derrick Baity and Chris Westry, to defend the edge of his defense. The Wildcats slightly detoured, experimenting with speedy recruits at cornerback. This cycle UK has returned to Stoops’ original M.O., emphasizing size on the trail. At 6-foot-2, Calhoun uses his length to high point the ball and pick off passes. Not afraid to get his nose dirty to jump a route, this potential addition of a fifth player to Kentucky’s 2023 recruiting class could be a good one.
