Cinco de Starters-o: Tennessee Volunteers

I think you know where we all stand here, so I need not do much of a lead. The Vols have been sputtering a bit over the last week or so, especially Saturday when they narrowly beat Georgia. Actually, I should say especially when they lost their prior two games. Let's hope they don't go putting it all together tonight in Knox-vuhl. Boobs, your Vols: #1 Tyler Smith, 6'7'', F, Junior 2008-09 Stats: 17.7 ppg, 6.4 rpg Smith kicked around the idea of turning pro after a solid sophomore season, where he landed on the All-SEC first team. Though he's struggled a bit shooting the ball from 3, he's always a threat to step outside and take the J. Not saying he'll make it, but he'll shoot it, by god. He's scored in double figures each game this year, with a high of 24 coming against Georgia last weekend. He's also had three double-doubles and a triple-double. #4 Wayne Chism, 6'9'', F, Junior 2008-09 Stats: 12.4 ppg, 9.1 rpg A chest-thumpin' banger in the low-post, Chism, too, is unafraid to shoot threes at an alarmingly bad percentage. To wit: he's shot 43 this year; he's made 11. Regardless, Chism is good in the post, especially on the rebounding end. He's had four double-doubles, including 19 rebounds against Gonzaga (the second time they played). Expect to see celebrations from this one; he really likes himself. #23 Cameron Tatum, 6'6'', G/F, Freshman 2008-09 Stats: 10.4 ppg, 2.9 rpg Tatum has been an impressive shooter throughout the year, Saturday's game at UGA notwithstanding (1-10...yikes). He probably does other stuff well, but I can't tell definitively from his statistics, so we'll tag him as their "shooter." He went for 19 in the season opener and 17 in the Vols statement win over G'town. He had his career high of 22 in the Vols second loss to Gonzaga. #3 Bobby Maze, 6'2'', G, Junior 2008-09 Stats: 9.9 ppg, 3.9 apg Maze has been a pretty solid all around point guard for the Vols. He's had a little trouble taking care of the ball at times, but he's been able to score when they need him. He had 16 against UGA and 15 in a demoralizing loss to Temple. Beyond that, he's been more of a distributor, dishing out 11 assists in the opener and 9 against G'town. Shout out to Dave the Jeweler. #30 J.P. Prince, 6'7'', G, Junior 2008-09 Stats: 10.3 ppg, 3.5 rpg Another lanky, lefty guard from the Prince clan, J.P. has perfected the art of looking completely disinterested while playing. Contrary to native son Tayshaun, however, sometimes his negligence will creep into his game and he'll make some crazy one-handed bounce alley-oop pass off the dribble or something. He's been a solid scoring contributor this year, but not spectacular. His high of 14 came in the season opener against UT-Chattanooga. Key Reserves: Scotty Hopson, G, Freshman: Depending on who you talk to, Hopson is either "the one that got away" or "a total a-hole." He's probably somewhere in-between. The Vols come in having lost two of their last three, to Kansas and Gonzaga...we could really use a signature road win...like, badly...we haven't had one in quite some time...stupid Louisville
