As preseason honors roll in, the Kentucky Wildcats continue to wrack up accolades. This time it’s Antonio Reeves and Justin Edwards who are getting the spotlight.

Kentucky’s talented wings each earned a spot on the Coaches’ Preseason All-SEC Teams. Reeves is a first team selection and the talented freshman from Philadelphia is a second teamer.

The last time we saw Antonio Reeves in a Kentucky uniform, he was leading the Cats in scoring as the Co-SEC Sixth Man of the Year. He averaged 14.4 points per game while shooting 39.8% from behind the three-point line. The high-scoring output continued over the summer in Canada when Reeves earned GLOBL Jam MVP honors by tallying 23.0 points per game.

The Big Blue Nation has only seen a glimpse of Justin Edwards’ potential. The 6-foot-7 small forward is smooth with the ball in his hands and his range extends well beyond the three-point line. The Pennsylvania High School Player of the Year averaged 17.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game to lead Imhotep Charter to a state title.

The two players flip-flopped spots in the preseason media poll. Edwards was on the first team and Reeves was a second teamer.

The two Kentucky Wildcats return to Rupp Arena tonight for the team’s second preseason exhibition. Kentucky State will tip-off against UK at 7 pm on ESPN+ and SEC Network+.

Preseason Basketball All-Conference Teams are Stupid

Basketball is a 5-on-5 sport. Why are there eight selections to each All-SEC team? It makes absolutely no sense. Pick the five best at each position. Heck, even if you don’t want to pigeonhole players into positions and just select the five best, fine by me. This whole charade makes absolutely no sense. It’s silly tomfoolery that needs to be abolished as soon as possible.
