Countdown to Signing Day!!!

by:Bryan1301/16/08
Boyd, Aaron National signing day is quickly approaching and the recruiting battles around the country are heating up at a ferocious pace. The Kentucky Wildcats are coming off back to back bowl victories for the first time since 1950-51, and the recruiting momentum is gaining steam as the Cats look to elevate from consistent bowl team to SEC title contender. Leading up to signing day, every day there will be an update on KSR whether it be pertaining to a recruiting target that Coach Brooks and staff are after, current commitments, and breaking down the class with evaluation of how the 2008 recruiting class will impact the Wildcats beginning next season and in the future. Today’s hot topic- Aaron Boyd 6’4 195 WR Lexington (KY) Henry Clay Offer Sheet: Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Missouri, Texas A&M, Virginia Have you ever watched a football game and noticed how some players just make the game look really, really easy? Well Aaron Boyd fits the mold of that description to a T. At 6’4 195 pounds, with a stride that mirrors the running style of a cheetah, Boyd has the potential to become one of the best receivers in the 2008 recruiting class. Player development has been one of the major strengths of the UK coaching staff in the recent seasons, and although Boyd is a major talent, he is raw in a lot of areas. With improvement in his route running and chalking up his downfield blocking Boyd has all the tools and intangibles in to be an all conference wide out. Commitment prediction: Kentucky is in firm condition with Boyd after having a winning season and a second straight bowl victory. Add the fact that he is the younger brother of former Wildcat quarterback Shane Boyd, and there are family ties to the program involved. But don’t count out Virginia. One of Boyd’s good friends Chase Minnifield is a member of the Cavaliers team and Boyd likes the fact that he can have someone to lean on has a freshman to show him the ropes of the transition from high school to college. With all of that said, I still see Aaron Boyd committing to Kentucky during his scheduled announcement on Feb 6.
