Last week, Kentucky four-star QB commit Cutter Boley and #6 Lexington Christian narrowly avoided a loss to Christian Academy of Louisville in a battle between two top 10 teams in the state. KSR’s Jacob Polacheck spoke with the future Wildcat after the game, as he put up a sub-Cutter level performance.

“It definitely wasn’t my best, but it definitely wasn’t my worst,” he said. “I came out here, and every single play, I gave it everything I had. I had some mental errors that can’t happen again. Besides that, my o-line fought their tails off. Everybody around me played hard. I couldn’t have asked any more from our guys.”

This week, all eyes will be on Boley, the No. 140 overall senior prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, to bounce back. Who better to rebound against than the guys seven minutes away from Boley’s high school? The Lexington Catholic Knights enter Friday’s matchup holding a 2-2 record, with wins over Madison Central and Great Crossing. However, losses to Highlands and Corbin — two Top 20 teams in KSR’s statewide rankings — have tampered with expectations surrounding the program.

On the other hand, the Lexington Christian Academy Eagles have started the season 3-1, a hot start for the blue and white. Lexington Christian’s only loss this season came to the #1 team in the state, the Boyle County Rebels. Despite the loss, LCA has its eyes firmly set on Kroger Field this November.

Last season, the Eagles fell to Mayfield in a game where Boley threw for 236 yards and two touchdowns. Facing this level of competition should help the Eagles over time. Boley sees that in Boyle and CAL, telling KSR, “Them and Boyle [County] are probably the best defenses we’ll see all year. Those two games are really going to help us in the state championship to get the ring.”

At this point in the season, all hopes are still alive for squads; rings are on the minds of every coach and fan. For LCA and Lexington Catholic, this game could be the derailment that no team can recover from in mid-September. For the other squad, a win would mean bragging rights and the feather in their cap on the road to Kroger Field.

LCA’s Squad

For LCA, Cutter Boley and running back Brady Hensley are the big names that everybody will know. Boley has thrown for 972 yards in four games, along with six touchdown passes and three rushing touchdowns. Hensley has added 877 yards on the ground and 13 total touchdowns for the Eagles. Parker Chaney and Saxton Howard have combined for 638 yards receiving with a touchdown each.

Defensively, Major Brown leads the team in sacks and total tackles, Hunter Adams leads the squad in total tackles with 18 on the year. Chaney has added two interceptions for the Eagle defense, showing his hands work from both sides of the ball.

Lexington Catholic’s Squad

For Lexington Catholic, Jackson Wasik is under center for the second straight year. Wasik has exploded this season for seven touchdown passes with only one interception — a ratio that any coach would dream of coming from their quarterback. Joaquin Pereira will take the rushing duties for the Knights, as he has accounted for 244 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. Jackson Kreutzer and Mathew Kern will get most of the load at receiver, as they have combined for five touchdowns in four games.

Bennett Williams and Brady Wasik will be flying around for the Knights on defense, while Sam Clements will look to go for his fourth interception on the season.

It should be a good one — and a great rivalry too.
