What do you have to do to get kicked out of the Philippine Basketball Association? Apparently, insult Manny Pacquiao. According to the New York Daily News, Daniel Orton was kicked out of the league for saying that Pacquiao may be good at boxing but he's bad at basketball:
“Professional boxer, yeah, okay... professional basketball player, no. It's a joke," Orton said after playing against the boxing legend last week. Pacquaio was held to one point in the game against Orton’s Purefoods Hotshots club.
The "insult" infuriated Filipinos, especially Rene Pardo, an administrator for Orton's former team. "Everyone is angry at him," Pardo said. "It is like he went to the United States and insulted the name of Martin Luther King." Really? Really?? You decide after watching Pacquiao's highlight reel: Meanwhile, where will Daniel Orton land next? After not making it in the pros, Orton went to China, where he got into a nasty bench-clearing brawl, and now he's kicked out of the Philippine League for basically speaking the truth. As his dad would say, he's a goooood kiiiiid. [NY Daily News]
