Screen Shot 2017-02-28 at 11.08.20 AM Congrats to Derek Willis, who not only got engaged this week, but was also named to the SEC Men’s Basketball Community Service team. Since coming to UK four years ago, Willis has spent countless hours giving back to the community, specifically at the UK Children's Hospital. He has also delivered gifts, served dinner and sang Christmas carols to families in the Lexington community every holiday season in his four years at Kentucky. He is an annual participant in UK’s Back Pack Program with God’s Pantry to help pack and distribute lunches to students across the city. During the God’s Pantry delivery over the years, he has played kickball and other activities with students. It was at the UK Hospital where he befriended Zach, a UK fan with Progeria (a progressive genetic disorder that causes children to age rapidly). Zach is a frequent guest of Derek's at games: https://www.instagram.com/p/BL2e7hBAp6l/?taken-by=dxw_33&hl=en For more on Derek and Zach's friendship, click here to watch a feature from ABC36.
