This morning at 9AM,
Dick Gabriel published a very long and detailed column about Kentucky basketball. In it, he gives amazing inside information involving the process of Tubby leaving, the pursual of Norm Chow after Guy Morris left, and some of the decisions Mitch Barnhart has had to make in regards to the football and basketball programs. Also there is a quick summary of the decision Mitch faces with Billy:
Did Barnhart move too quickly with the hire? Perhaps. Did he get bad “intelligence” on BCG? Definitely. Nobody warned him that Gillispie’s personality could set the entire athletics department on edge. Or that his negative, sarcastic tone in practice would make at least some of his players miserable.
As our Rob Gidel said last week, "there is absolutely NO ONE else in the media with a better relationship with the athletic department, Mitch Barnhart and the major 'players' in town."
I highly recommend that you spend some of your afternoon today to read what Dick has to say. There are very few people -- if any -- that has the kind of connections Dick has with UK Athletics. This column gives a lot of printed confirmation about what has transpired over the last 4 years.
