Prospects are beginning to emerge for Kentucky in the 2024 recruiting cycle. Cleveland (Ohio) Villa Angela-St. Joseph defensive lineman Dominic Kirks is building a relationship with the Wildcats.

The No. 584 ranked prospect in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking received a scholarship offer from Kentucky on April 26 and the coaching staff in Lexington is working quickly to speed up this recruitment. On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons caught up with Kirks at the Under Armour Columbus Camp this past weekend where the line of scrimmage prospect had a strong performance. The Wildcats are standing out in this recruitment.

“Pittsburgh (June 2-4), Kentucky (June 9-11) and Washington (June 16-18) have emerged as favorites for Dominic Kirks” writes Simmons. “The official visits are set and he could decide after those. Cincinnati and Rutgers are high on his radar too.”

Kentucky currently has 12 scholarship defensive lineman on the 2023 roster and none of those players are in their final year of eligibility. Defensive line coach Anwar Stewart should return a lot in 2024, but college football programs can never stop building in the trenches. Kirks is a player to watch closely over the summer as one of few legitimate defensive line targets for the Wildcats.

June 9th weekend will be seismic for Kentucky football

When it comes to building out official visit weekends, some are going to be more significant than others. That is usually be design. For Kentucky, all signs point to the weekend of June 9th being a monster one for the program.

The lists of guests keeps improving.

  • QB Cutter Boley (top-50 QB in class of 2025)
  • G/T Aba Selm (high 3-star prospect that is committed to Kentucky)
  • EDGE Brian Robinson (top-200 prospect with official visits locked in with Michigan and Penn State)
  • EDGE Jacob Smith (top-250 prospect with official visits locked in with Michigan and Nebraska)
  • DL Dominic Kirks (high 3-star prospect)
  • T Jordan Floyd (3-star prospect)
  • T Kevin Heywood (top-300 prospect with an official visit locked in with Auburn and heavy interest from Penn State)

Quarterback, tackle, and EDGE are all huge positions of need for Kentucky in the 2024 recruiting cycle. An argument can be made that Cutter Boley, Brian Robinson, and Jacob Smith are the the three most important recruits on Kentucky’s recruiting board. Each will be on campus at the same time as the Wildcats will look to close on their top QB prospect.

If a commitment from Boley is followed by a reclassification on this June weekend, that could be just the push that Kentucky needs to start get the commitments rolling in for the 2024 recruiting class.
