Erving Walker: Taco Bandit

Florida's Erving Walker didn't want the second-half collapse against Louisville to be the last image people remember from his time at Florida. So, according to the Palm Beach Post, he ordered a $3 taco from a street vendor and then allegedly ran away without paying for it. Walker, who ended his career with the Gators as the school's all-time assist leader, was not jailed after the incident but is scheduled to appear in court April 19th. Walker said that he was "just playing around" and that he knew he was stealing food when he ran away without paying for the taco, and was charged with petty theft and resisting an officer without violence. Walker pleaded no contest to resisting an officer without violence in 2008. The report of the latest incident does not mention any involvement with drugs or alcohol, so it was just plain old ridiculousness that led Walker to make a break for it without paying for his food. He reportedly had a comfortable lead on police in the chase, but they were able to catch up and apprehend him when he stopped to take an ill-advised three pointer instead of just getting in his car when he had the chance. No one who watched Erving Walker for the last four years could have come away thinking he had the most exemplary judgment, and the incident doesn't seem like that big of a deal. It is random and hilarious, but it's not news unless the tacos he's stealing are Doritos Locos.
