Kentucky is still building the class of 2022, but work is being done in the class of 2023. For the second time, recruiting ace Vince Marrow is playing some Yahtzee in the state of Kentucky with the junior class.

Frankfort (Ky.) Franklin County running back Kaden Moorman is a high three-star prospect in the class of 2023 and a top-five prospect in the state of Kentucky. Through seven games this fall, Moorman has 777 yards on 92 attempts averaging a robust 8.45 yards per rush. The junior is a big-play tailback who just picked Kentucky over Wisconsin.

Now we slide over to the KSR Film Room to see what Moorman will be bringing to John Settle’s position room. The Wildcats are beginning to load up on in-state talent at running back, and Moorman could provide a different element to the offense.

The first thing that jumps off the tape is that this is a tailback with great size. Kaden Moorman is listed at 205 pounds on a 5-foot-10 frame with plenty of room for growth. However, that size does not mean much if a tailback does not know where he is going.

On a gap scheme run designed to go left, Moorman shows some great feel for the position. The tailback sees that the defense has a numbers advantage and immediately trusts his instincts to turn backside. Moorman flashes a nice jump cut and heads streaking into the free grass.

The junior tailback flashes some nice agility for a player his size.

One of the best attributes that Kaden Moorman will bring to the Kentucky offense is his cool demeanor on the field. The big tailback never seems rushed and consistently lets plays develop on tape.

Even with a high snap, Moorman stays even keel and lets his blocks set up. Once again, the tailback feels a lane open up on the backside and attacks it to create the chunk play.

His patience also shows up big-time in the red zone.

In the wildcat formation, Kaden Moorman does not become too impatient and just bolt to the outside. The tailback lets his blockers do their thing and then explodes north/south off his plant foot upfield when a crease is created.

All of these positive attributes are shown off by the tailback in the return game. Kaden Moorman displays patience, vision, and acceleration all while making an impact play in the third phase.

The Kentucky football program appears to be on the fence about taking a running back in the class of 2022, but it’s clear that this is a position of need in 2023. The Wildcats get off to a good start by landing one of the top prospects in their backyard.

Kaden Moorman is a big back with patience and vision to go along with just enough speed to make explosive plays on the ground. The rising junior can make an impact in the return game and makes some playing in the passing game for Franklin County High. The tailback owns an intriguing skillset.

Moving forward, the running back will need to work on running with a better pad level and using his size to his advantage by seeking out contact. However, the other traits are there. Moorman will have a chance to be a 225-plus pound power back in college that could provide down-to-down efficiency to an offense.

Kentucky’s first offensive commitment in the class of 2023 is a good one.
