FIRST LOOK: Topgolf is your latest excuse to come to Nashville
Topgolf Nashville will open its doors on Friday, September 22, and judging by last night’s sneak peek, it’s an absolute must for your next trip to Music City.
I was invited to tour the three-story 65,000 square foot facility last night and enjoyed it so much I considered taking up residence in one of its 102 climate-controlled hitting bays. Nashville’s Topgolf is the 34th outpost of the Dallas-based golf entertainment chain and has a distinct Music City flair, from the two-story, 500-seat concert hall to the hot chicken bao buns on the chef-driven menu.
Topgolf is a golfer’s paradise, with three stories of hitting bays, each equipped with heating and cooling units that can make the temperature 30 degrees warmer or cooler depending on the season. Each bay also includes HDTVs, high-top tables or a plush sectional couch for optimal lounging, and a concierge to bring you food and drinks. The driving range itself is very user-friendly, with a computer that tracks every shot by way of microchipped golf balls and a variety of games that award points for distance and accuracy. The range itself is approximately 225 yards deep, and includes six targets. Clubs are available for every distance, and if you really want to work on your swing, a swing coach is on hand to help out.
Not into golf? Topgolf still has a ton to offer, with several bars and lounges and a rooftop deck overlooking downtown Nashville. With countless HDTVs and beers on tap, I can easily see myself coming to Topgolf just to watch sports, especially since entrance is free. The hitting bays are rented by the hour, with prices varying by the time of day. From opening to noon, the fee is $25 per hour; noon to 5 p.m., it’s $35; 5 p.m. until close, $45. That fee is for the entire group, so if you have six players, it’s pretty affordable.

Curious why TopGolf doesn’t face downtown Nashville? I was. If it did, it would face west, meaning that players would be blinded by the sun as it set. Regardless, there’s an enormous rooftop deck facing downtown with a full-service bar, fire pits and a stage.
Between football, basketball, and general debauchery, Kentucky fans already have plenty of reasons to visit Nashville. Topgolf just gave us another one.
