Jalen “Teez” Tabor is considered one of the best cover men in college football. Here are five things you need to know about the junior cornerback.

He Had a Breakout Sophomore Season

Tabor’s sophomore season is what brought him into the limelight of college football. Tabor finished the 2015 season with four interceptions, 18 passes defended and 40 total tackles.

Tabor was named to USA Today Sports preseason All-American second team. Tabor also won the award for Best Cover Man of the 2016 Herbie Awards by ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit.

He Changed His Named to Teez

After two years at Florida, Tabor decided he was ready for a change, a name change. In August Tabor officially requested the UF communications office and media refer to him as Teez Tabor, effective immediately.

“If you call me Teez, you know me,” he said. “If you call me Jalen, you just know of me.”

According to Florida’s athletic website, Tabor said family and friends called him Teez in middle school and he preferred it over Jalen.

He Was Suspended the First Game Against UMASS

Tabor was suspended after he and tight end C’yontai Lewis got into an altercation after practice on Aug. 16. Tabor needed stitches above his left eye following the altercation.

The next day, Tabor tweeted “Scuffles happen in football all the time , just didn’t kno you could get suspended for it lol.”

He Gave Shoes and Money to a Homeless Man

Tabor made the most of his suspension. After seeing a homeless man with no shoes, Tabor decided to return and give the man a new pair of blue sneakers and $22 worth of cash.

Tabor filmed the whole things on Periscope. You can watch it here.

He Has An Interesting Tattoo

After doing a Google search of Tabor, I discovered that he has a pretty interesting chest tattoo. I saw that Tabor has been nicknamed ‘Superman’, so I guess the tattoo is where that name comes from.
