For the second consecutive week, Kentucky breaks the single-game rushing record

In back-to-back weeks, the Kentucky football program has broken the school's single-game rushing record. Led by Lynn Bowden with 284 yards and four scores on his own, the Wildcats rushed for a whopping 517 yards on the ground, breaking the same record they set last week (462 yards vs. UT Martin). Redshirt freshman Chris Rodriguez was second on the team with 125 yards and a touchdown on nine carries, followed by Kavosiey Smoke with 75 yards on two carries. AJ Rose also added 33 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. And the records don't stop there. Following today's performance, Kentucky has now broken the single-season rushing record with 3,293 yards and the single-season touchdown record (33). 517 yards is also the most in a single game in the Kentucky/Louisville rivalry. This is also the second straight year a Wildcat has managed two 100-yard rushers against the Cardinals. Individually, Bowden finished the regular season with 1,235 yards on the ground, moving him up to No. 6 on the all-time single-season rushing list. He also tied the school record for most rushing touchdowns in a single game (4) and set a record for most rushing yards by an SEC quarterback in a single game (284). He is also Kentucky's single-season leading rusher at the quarterback position. In terms of the Louisville series, Bowden is also the first Wildcat to finish with at least three rushing touchdowns in the modern series and also managed the most rushing yards by any player in a single game in the rivalry. And in the most important statistic of all, Kentucky has outscored Louisville in the last two seasons by a total score of 101-23.
