One of the highest-ranked recruits from the area over the last five years is back on the market. Defensive lineman Tahj Rice has entered the transfer portal. A four-star recruit out of Louisville Waggener High School, 247 Sports ranked Rice as the No. 10 defensive end in the 2018 recruiting class. Out of high school he committed to play for David Cutcliffe at Duke, the highest-ranked recruit in the Blue Devils' '18 class. In two years of action Rice recorded 16 tackles, 2.5 TFLs and 1.5 sacks. Of all his early career highlights, nothing can top his commitment video, the greatest commitment video in the history of commitment videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8hyH9rLRUg Could Rice be returning to his old Kentucky home? Yes, but probably not to become a Wildcat. UK is not in the market to add defensive linemen from the transfer portal. In fact, it's quite the opposite. The Cats have recruited so well in the trenches on the defensive side of the ball that two defensive linemen have departed this offseason. In the 2020 class alone the Cats added four four-star prospects. Rice considered playing for Louisville when few wanted to at the end of the Bobby Petrino era. Scott Satterfield could certainly use some help in the trenches. They'll pull out all of the stops to get him on campus to play two years for the Cardinals.
