Former Kentucky QB coach Darin Hinshaw hired as analyst at UAB

Darin Hinshaw is on the move once again, with the former Kentucky quarterbacks coach now heading to UAB to become an analyst.
The news was reported by On3’s Matt Zenitz on Thursday.
Hinshaw spent the 2021 season at his alma mater working as an analyst under Gus Malzahn at Central Florida. As a player, Hinshaw played quarterback for the Knights, throwing for 9,000 yards and 82 touchdowns from 1991-94.
Prior to his lone season at UCF, Hinshaw served as Kentucky’s co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2016-20. He was relieved of his duties following the 2020 season after the Wildcats finished as a bottom-15 passing offense nationally in three consecutive seasons. UK did, however, generate 2,000 rushing yards and 2,000 passing yards three times in 2016, 2017 and 2018 under Hinshaw.
He was hired at Kentucky after serving on the Cincinnati coaching staff from 2013-15 and the Tennessee staff before that from 2010-12. Hinshaw has also made stops at Memphis (2007-09), Georgia Southern (2006) and Middle Tennessee State (2001-05).

As for Gran, he returned to Kentucky in September as a special assistant to the head coach, an off-the-field role for the Wildcats. He previously served as UK’s assistant head coach of the offense, offensive coordinator and running backs coach from 2016-20.
“I’m grateful to have somebody with the experience of Eddie Gran rejoining our program in a different capacity,” Mark Stoops said. “Eddie has a wealth of experience in many different areas. He will be an asset to me and our program.”
Best of luck to Hinshaw at his next stop.
