The Kentucky Effect has been heavily felt during the NBA postseason and now it's taking over the hottest basketball video game on the market. NBA 2K21 was officially released this past Friday--the 22nd edition of the video game franchise--and along with it came the complete player rating list for every single hooper currently (and formerly) in the NBA. As we all know, Kentucky features more former players in the league than any other college program in the world. So it shouldn't shock you to hear that they have the most players ranked in 2K's top 100 than anyone else, with 11 former 'Cats making the list. The second-highest school, Duke, came in with only six while Texas and UCLA both saw four make the cut. Lousiville, Florida, and Tennessee are three of the nine schools with two players ranked in the top-100 while Western Kentucky, Alabama, Indiana, LSU, and Missouri all have one. Of the top 100 players, 85 of them come from a college program, although three of the top 11 are international players (Giannis Antetokounmpo, No. 2; Luka Doncic, No. 8; and Nikola Jokic, No. 11). https://twitter.com/CBBonFOX/status/1302358402165649409 You could probably take a couple of easy guesses at who some of the 11 are, such as superstars Anthony Davis and Karl-Anthony Towns, but let's take a look at the entire list of former Wildcats to see what rating they recieved. [Via 2kratings.com] 6. Anthony Davis - 95 overall 13. Karl-Anthony Towns - 90 26. Devin Booker - 87 31. Bam Adebayo - 86 37. De'Aaron Fox - 85 39. Jamal Murray - 85 46. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander - 84 56. John Wall - 83 60. Eric Bledsoe - 83 73. DeMarcus Cousins - 81 92. Julius Randle - 80 Here are other notable former Wildcats and their rankings. Tyler Herro - 78 Willie Cauley-Stein - 77 P.J. Washington - 77 Nerlens Noel - 76 Rajon Rondo - 76 (this feels generous) Trey Lyles - 75 Malik Monk - 75 I stopped regularly playing 2K a couple of years ago (and I haven't heard/seen many positive reviews for the current edition) but maybe it's time I fire it back up. There are 29 former Kentucky players currently in the NBA spread across 19 different franchises, not including soon-to-be rookies such as Tyrese Maxey and Immanuel Quickley, so the opportunities to play with your favorite 'Cat are going to be endless. What are your thoughts on the rankings? Was anyone undervalued or overrated?
