We’re roughly halfway through the high school football season for most of the country. Over the weekend, 18 of Kentucky’s 20 class of 2024 pledges (which now ranks No. 25 in the country according to On3) were set to take the stage, although an injury and some major scoreboard blowouts limited playing time for several of them.

Among the top performers were four-star linebacker Elijah Groves, four-star wide receiver Hardley Gilmore, three-star offensive lineman Aba Selm, and three-star linebacker Steven Soles. In-state commits such as four-star quarterback Cutter Boley, the four-star Smith twins, and three-star tight end Willie Rodriguez were either sidelined in blowout wins or played just the first half.

How did they all perform during the sixth week of high school football? Let’s dive in and find out. But first, a quick word from our sponsor…

Withrow was down roughly a dozen players against Taft, although Nichols still suited up and played in the game. Stats were not made available, but Nichols and the Withrow defense have allowed just 37 points all season. He also split time at running back against Taft.

He even returned two punts for 30 total yards. On defense, Groves registered 10 total tackles (eight solo) with one tackle for loss. Jacob Smith (EDGE) 6-4, 230 | Corbin (Corbin, KY)
4-star: No. 278 overall, No. 21 EDGE

Devin Smith (LB) 6-1, 215 | Brunswick (Brunswick, GA)
3-star: No. 615 overall, No. 62 LB

  • The newest 2024 pledge for Kentucky, Devin Smith’s commitment was spoiled as Brunswick lost 22-15 in overtime to Glynn Academy on Friday in the City Championship. The Colonels will hit the field again on Friday against Grant County, which could also result in another lopsided score and minimal playing time for Rodriguez.
