How Much Do SEC Coaches Make?

by:Matt Jones12/09/10
jokerphillips_uk2_t607 An interesting article was released today in USA Today with an analysis of the salaries for BCS conference football coaches. What is most striking is just how much coaches for nearly every school make and a scan of the figures makes one realize that football coaching is the path many of us should have taken early in life. Below is the list of the SEC and as you can see, Joker Phillips is the 10th highest paid coach, ahead of Dan Mullen at MSU (who seems underpaid) and the Vanderbilt coach, whose figures arent released but surely are below the top 11. Check out the salaries below and then ask yourself this...how can you get Nick Saban's agent to negotiate at your workplace? SEC Coaches: Alabama - Nick Saban - $5.99 mill Florida - Urban Meyer - $4.01 mill LSU - Les Miles - $3.91 mill Georgia - Mark Richt - $2.94 mill Arkansas - Bobby Petrino - $2.71 mill Ole Miss - Houston Nutt - $2.51 mill Tennessee - Derek Dooley - $2.21 mill Auburn - Gene Chizik - $2.10 mill S. Carolina - Steve Spurrier - $2.03 mill Kentucky - Joker Phillips - $1.71 mill Miss. State - Dan Mullen - $1.21 mill Vanderbilt - Robbie Caldwell - N/A Other Notables: Louisville --- Charlie Strong $1.6 mill Indiana --- Bill Lynch (former) $600,000 Duke --- David Cutcliffe $1.58 mill Boise State --- Chris Petersen $1.48 mill
