Is Knight making a dumb decision?

Sam Amick over at Sports Illustrated wrote in his NBA Draft Notebook that Brandon Knight may be making a mistake in the way that he is handling his workouts.

There are rumblings that Utah is less than thrilled at the notion that Knight would even consider dictating the terms with the No. 3 pick (although Turkish center Enes Kanter already did just that in his Jazz workout in Chicago in which Toronto also took part). It's unclear whether the Jazz would take a hard-line stance and refuse to take Knight unless he worked out against other top-line competitors, but that appears to be a possibility.

It does seem strange that Brandon would refuse to work out against the other top players in the draft, but he has been projected as a top five pick and his agent, Arn Tellem, said that Brandon shouldn't be expected to work out against players projected lower than he is because he has nothing to gain from it. I guess that makes sense, but there is still an emphasis on competitive spirit. If Tellem really feels like Brandon is worthy of his projection, then he should prove it by going head-to-head against guys like Kemba and Jimmer. Brandon should be doing everything he can to make the best impression possible, especially with whispers that Kyrie Irving may not have the top spot absolutely locked up. Magic Johnson once said that he'd take Knight with the first pick in the draft. Had the workouts been handled differently up to this point, Knight maybe receiving more consideration for the number one selection. Amick goes on to note that Brandon Knight considers Sacramento at 7 to be his assumed floor in the draft. Personally, there's no team that I'd rather see Brandon on than the Kings. I think that he'd fit in well with Tyreke Evans because both of them could step in at either guard position and make plays. Plus, if he were to be paired with Boogie, then he'd instantly cement the Kings as one of Kentucky's favorite teams. I know that it would mean less money for Brandon, but if he were to drop to the seventh pick, then I wouldn't be upset. Utah and Toronto at third and fifth, respectively, seem to be the other teams in the running for his services, but neither one of those franchises carry the same intrigue as Knight landing in Sacramento does. However, Amick reported that even the Sacramento top dogs weren't too pleased with his refusal to compete against another prospect. Knight is becoming a bit of a wild card in the draft process and it'll be interesting to see where he is chosen. I hope that he finds his way to a team with another former Wildcat, and that his workout refusals don't have the negative impact that Amick says is a possibility. Regardless, wherever Brandon Knight lands, he's going to tear it up with all of Big Blue Nation behind him.
