It's going to be hard not to call him "Mop" after this...

jon-hood-mascot.JPG A few weeks ago, we were lucky enough to catch up with 2009 UK basketball commitment, Jon Hood, and ask him a few questions that weren't really all that important. Somewhere in the midst of the greatest dialogue in the history of human life, Jon made it clear that he doesn't have a nickname and if he did, it wouldn't be "Mop". Understandable.  I'd hate that nickname too. But, then I get this picture in my email box, sent to us by....well, I won't say because I don't want Jon hunting him down. I don't want that blood on my hands. But, ladies in gentleman, the above picture is from the Madisonville North homecoming football game and the person in the Mop costume just happens to be the #7 shooting guard in the country. I'm with you, Jon. I think "Mop" is a pretty awful nickname and surely we can do better, but I don't think this is helping your cause much. In all seriousness though, it's cool to see that Jon, who apparently gets very involved at Madisonville North, doesn't take himself too seriously with all of the hype around him - something that not a lot of teenagers in his position are mature enough to do.  Recruiting and the coverage of it is so crazy (yes, we accept part of the blame) that it's tough to remember a lot of times that these are regular kids and students that just happen be damn good basketball players.  Mop - I mean Jon - seems to get it and he should be a fan favorite from day one.  But, if I were Scratch, I'd be working on my moves just in case. That's it. No news. Nothing to see here. Move along.
