Jai Lucas Interview---- Its Official....Waiting Until Spring

by:Matt Jones11/14/06
I just spoke with Jai Lucas on the phone. Our interview is below and I will have my editorial comments tonight: Have you made a decision to wait until the Spring? Yes I decided after talking with my family that waiting until the Spring is the best option. It was a tough decision as I always thought I would go ahead and do it, but I think this is the best thing for me at this time. What was the main reason for this decision? Well mainly because I want to see how the teams play out this year. Everyone of the teams have great players and young point guards. And I want to see how the teams play and develop during the year. Now are you looking at potential playing time or other characteristics? No playing time is not really it. Wherever you go, you have to fight to get to play....that is part of basketball. But I want to see how the teams play during the year. I think this will be an interesting year for all the teams and I want to see how it works out. Did the timing of other player's decisions have any impact on your decision? No not at all. I know thats what a lot of people will think, but it had nothing to do with it. I was just looking at what was best for me and waiting right now is what is best for me. Do you think you might look at other teams? The four teams that have recruited me have been very loyal to me. It would have to be an amazing situation for me to look at another team at this point. I think the four that I have right now are the group for me. Do you have a time frame at this point? No, not really. I am concentrating on our season now and then make a decision later on. Finally, as pertains to Kentucky, what are your thoughts? Well they will still be right there the entire time unless they tell me they arent interested anymore. I am am a big fan of Coach Smith and I cant wait to watch them this year.....nothing has changed with them at all. So there it is....more later on....
