Back in July, Lorenzen started "The Jared Lorenzen Project," a documentary profiling his weight gain since his football career ended and how he plans on fighting obesity going forward. He reached the 500-pound mark a few months back and realized it was finally time for a change that could save his life. In an interview with KSR back in August, Lorenzen opened up about what it feels like to stand in his shoes.
“For so long, you push it off,” he explained. “It’s like, ‘Oh I’m 25, I’m 28. What’s the really big deal? I’m only 30.’ But now I’m 36. I see people on Facebook everyday as big as me, having a heart attack or having this and having that. I think people would go, ‘Damn that really sucks, but he was huge. He didn’t take care of himself.'”
It is the most depressing thing I could ever think of,” he said in the preview for his upcoming documentary. Lorenzen has put his money where his mouth is, and is working every day to shed pounds. Here are two of the photos he has posted on Instagram documenting his time in the gym: Here is a video segment from Fox 19/Bleacher Report with some more clips of Jared putting in work: Keep fighting, Jared. The Big Blue Nation is proud of you!
