The Kentucky Basketball team had a pretty awesome Friday. On their day off at the GLOBL Jam, the Cats dropped by Drake’s $100 million mansion in Toronto, using the rapper’s famous gym for practice and cooling off in his gorgeous pool. Drake is on tour and was therefore unable to join the team, but made sure his staff gave them the VIP treatment. The pictures and videos of the visit have since gone viral.

After all of that excitement, John Calipari expected a sluggish performance from his players vs. Team Africa on Saturday. The Cats won 104-92 to move to 3-0 in the GLOBL Jam, but the game was close at times, with Africa cutting the lead to six with five minutes to go.

“Told the staff today that I’ll be stunned if we have great energy and fight because of what we did yesterday,” Calipari said in the postgame press conference. “Anytime kids go swimming — they were in the pool for an hour and a half. So, I was like, sheesh.”

When asked, Rob Dillingham said he was most impressed by Drake’s gym, dubbed “The Sanctuary,” and jersey collection.

“The gym was crazy. In the back, it had all the jerseys of all the old players. Every jersey was signed so it was a crazy experience to see all of that.”

Justin Edwards enjoyed hanging out in the pool the most — or rather, throwing his teammates in it.

“I’d probably say throwing everybody into the pool,” he said of his favorite part of the visit.

Was John Calipari one of those people?

“Nah, he ran,” Edwards said. “He didn’t throw me into the pool. I was already in there.”

“No,” Calipari said when asked if he was thrown in. “I threw two kids in though. They tried to grab me, I said — I got one by the arm, flipped him in, the other I grabbed by the shorts and threw him in.”

Obviously, this trip is a great opportunity for the Cats to form chemistry on the court, which we’re already seeing through just three games. But it’s equally as important for their off-the-court relationships.

“It means a lot because we do a lot together,” Edwards said of the trip. “There’s a lot of team bonding, a lot of just hanging out, playing games, whatever it is, we do everything as a team.”

“It’s been kind of fun, to be honest with you,” Calipari said of the trip to Toronto. “Yesterday was the greatest.”

The best evidence of that is this video Cal put out from Drake’s, the swaggiest we’ve seen him in ages.
