Joker Phillips is headed to NC State, per report
Joker Phillips is on the move again. According to AL.com’s John Talty and Matt Zenitz, NC State is expected to hire Phillips as its wide receivers coach.
Phillips was wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator at Maryland the past two seasons, one of many stops since his tenure as Kentucky’s head coach ended in 2012. After leaving Lexington, he coached wide receivers at Florida (2013), with the Cleveland Browns (2015), and at Cincinnati (2017-18). He also spent one season on Ohio State’s staff as an offensive quality control coach alongside Tim Beck, who is now NC State’s offensive coordinator. Joker takes over for George McDonald, who took a job at Illinois last week, and will be reunited with Kurt Roper, the Wolfpack’s running backs coach who coached quarterbacks at Kentucky back in 2005.
