In under two weeks’ time, Justin Edwards will make his college decision. KSR’s Jack Pilgrim has learned that the five-star ’23 small forward will make his announcement the Monday after Peach Jam on July 25. Edwards is considered a five-star prospect and the No. 10 overall rising senior, according to the On3 Consensus.

The 6-foot-7 wing previously cut his list to seven options, with Kentucky, Auburn, Tennessee, Villanova, Maryland, Kansas, and the G-League Ignite remaining in consideration. That being said, he’s believed to be down to Kentucky and Tennessee as his final two choices. UK has been gaining momentum on the Volunteers with Auburn viewed as the darkhorse pick.

Edwards previously told On3 that he would decide during Peach Jam, but now a source close to the recruit says he intends to do so immediately after the event concludes.

“I’ve been talking to Coach (John) Calipari more than other schools, just more,” Edwards told KSR at the NBPA Top 100 Camp in June. “That’s made a big difference to me. It shows that I’m one of the main guys they’re going after, me talking to head coaches.”

The Wildcats’ push comes after Tennessee solidified itself as the firm leader in Edwards’ recruitment over the course of the last year. The Volunteers pitched the five-star wing on being the guy in Knoxville, the only player they are recruiting at his position. That’s something that has always appealed to him.

“They want me to go in and be the guy, help me get to where I want to be and stay there for a long time,” Edwards previously told KSR about Tennessee. “I have a family relationship with them. It’s a close, mutual relationship with them.”

Head coach John Calipari currently has two commitments in place for the ’23 class: five-star PG Robert Dillingham and four-star CG Reed Sheppard. Could Edwards be next in line?
