Kahlil Whitney won't sign with UK this week, his mom says

Kentucky commit Kahlil Whitney won’t sign in the fall signing period, his mother Chanel Tillmon tells KSR.

“It won’t be within the next week but he will be signing in one of the periods,” she said via text.

The next signing period isn’t until April 17 and goes to May 15. But don’t panic. He isn’t having second thoughts or thinking of backing off his commitment, but going to school in New Jersey and his family being in Chicago the plan is to wait to sign until a later date.

And if the family changes their mind he has until Nov. 21 to send his papers to UK.

Signing a national letter of intent is a binding agreement between the player and the school, making their commitment officially official.

Fellow UK commits Dontaie Allen and Tyrese Maxey will sign this week, allowing John Calipari to talk about both publicly. Maxey will sign tomorrow at 10 a.m. CT at his school and Allen will sign on Friday afternoon.

UK has several other offers out in the class of 2019 but as of today there are no set plans for any of those players to sign. It appears that James Wiseman and Vernon Carey Jr. are nearing decisions, but no dates have been set. Oregon’s Bol Bol committed five days after the fall signing period but secretly signed his papers before announcing his decision so Oregon was able to include him as part of the fall class. There’s always a chance that happens.

There’s no date set for Isaiah Stewart or Jaden McDaniels and Matthew Hurt and Keion Brooks appear to be leaning towards announcing in the spring.
