Former Kentucky Wildcat Kelvin Joseph will participate in the 2021 NFL Scouting Combine.

On Saturday, the cornerback posted a message from the NFL on Twitter that officially invited him to one of the main events prior to April’s Draft. The full note reads:

Dear Kelvin Joseph:

Congratulations – you have been selected to participate in the 2021 NFL Scouting Combine (“Combine”). Amidst a global pandemic, this year’s Combine will look much different, but the goal remains the same. The Combine is an opportunity for you to interact with NFL team personnel as they evaluate you in advance of the 2021 NFL Draft. Mitigating the risk of transmission of the COVID virus has guided us throughout the combine process.

The Combine will not be held in early March, as originally scheduled. Instead, we will be implementing the attached Scouting Combine schedule which focuses on evaluation and virtual interaction with club personnel. We are planning to hold dates in Indianapolis in early April for the final step in the evaluation…

During his lone season in Lexington, Joseph was tied for 8th in the nation with four interceptions before opting out prior to the South Carolina game.

Typically, the entire NFL world converges on Indianapolis in the middle of February for the multi-day pre-draft event. This season, all of the workouts will be recorded during the scheduled campus pro days. The NFL is going to work at making the workouts as uniform as possible.

In the message posted by Joseph, it says that there is a potential for some of the events still being held in Indianapolis. The potential of in-person interviews is something to watch. At this week’s Senior Bowl, NFL coaches were separated by plexiglass from prospects and were in their own individual curtained-off section of the room.

Joseph’s current draft stock has him ranked as the 23rd best cornerback in the draft by WalterFootball.com. If the draft goes similar to last year, using that ranking, he would see himself go in the early-to-mid seventh round.
