Ken Pomeroy isn't ready to give up on the Cats yet

by:Thomas Beisner02/25/11
After Wednesday's loss ran the Cats' road record to a frigid 1-6, a lot of people started questioning how this team could be considered a threat in the post-season given their struggles away from Rupp Arena.  I am guilty of being one of those people and, truth be told, still feel the same way.  Noted basketball statisital guru Ken Pomeroy feels differently.  At least a little bit.  On his site, Pomeroy says that Kentucky, along with Washington, can't be written off just yet because their margin of victory is still strong, though weighted by their home slate.  Pomeroy says that the stat can be telling in terms of postseason success and notes that last year's national champions, Duke, had road issues and sported an impressive margin of victory before winning nine straight en route to the title.  It's an interesting read, though it might give you a headache if you do anything related to numbers on a daily basis.
