After spending the last 10 seasons at Virginia Tech, Kendall Dillard is following Kenny Brooks to Lexington.

On Friday, Brooks announced the hiring of Dillard as an assistant coach and the director of player development for Kentucky women’s basketball. Dillard was with Brooks during all eight seasons of the latter’s tenure with the Hokies.

“I’m excited and thankful to continue to work under Coach Brooks and be a part of Big Blue Nation,” Dillard said in UK’s press release. “To be a part of a program as prestigious as Kentucky is an honor, and I look forward to helping this program compete for championships for years to come!”

Dillard was on Virginia Tech’s staff during all four of Brooks’ NCAA Tournament appearances (2020-24), including the Hokies’ 2023 Final Four berth.

Dillard is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and got his start in coaching at Virginia Tech as a student manager and practice player in 2014. After earning a bachelor’s degree in human development in 2020, he was promoted by Brooks to a graduate assistant position beginning with the 2020-21 season and then to the operations assistant for the past two seasons.

Along with Dillard, Brooks now has five full-time assistant coaches on board for 2024-25. Associate head coach Lindsey Hicks, assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Radvile Autukaite, special assistant and chief of staff Tim Clark, and assistant coach Josh Petersen make up the rest of Brooks’ staff.
