With just over a month until Selection Sunday, Kentucky’s quest for a No. 1 seed continues. The Cats moved up to the No. 1 seed line in Joe Lunardi’s NCAA Tournament projections after the win over South Carolina, but this morning, they’re back down to a No. 2 seed. In his new Bracketology, Lunardi moved Arizona ahead of Kentucky, making the blue-and-white Wildcats the No. 2 seed in the East Region. Purdue, who lost to Michigan by 24 points last night, is the No. 1 seed in the East. Following Auburn’s loss to Arkansas on Tuesday, Gonzaga is now the No. 1 overall seed.

Yesterday, Lunardi tweeted that Kentucky and Arizona are in a “virtual tie” for the fourth No. 1 seed, so expect some more flip-flopping until one team loses or gets a quality win. Kentucky’s schedule the rest of the way is considerably tougher than Arizona’s. Tomorrow, Kentucky hosts Florida (KenPom No. 51) and on Tuesday, heads to Tennessee (KenPom No. 11). Arizona plays at Washington (KenPom No. 125) on Saturday and hosts Oregon State (No. 230) on Thursday.

Speaking of Florida, the Gators are the first team out of Lunardi’s projections, so a win over Kentucky could do wonders for their resume. Good thing that’s not going to happen.
