Kentucky baseball is in a weather delay in Hoover

What happens when you host an all-day tournament in a single outdoor location with tight playing windows? You get weather delays, of course!

No, No. 8 seed Kentucky baseball is not on the field right now taking on No. 9 seed Alabama to open the SEC Tournament in Hoover. Instead, inclement weather in the area has pushed back Game 2 between Texas A&M and Tennessee, with the Aggies currently leading the Volunteers 3-0 with one out in the top of the 9th inning.

The tarp came out at 4:00 p.m. ET, then was taken off an hour later at 5. A return-to-play time has been scheduled for 6:02 p.m. ET.

No. 6 South Carolina rolled through No. 11 Georgia 9-0 in game one, advancing to take on No. 3 LSU tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. ET. With a win for Texas A&M, the Aggies would take on No. 2 Arkansas on Wednesday, time to be determined.

Then there are the Bat Cats, patiently waiting for their turn against the Crimson Tide this evening. There will be a 45-minute warm-up period following the conclusion of TAMU vs. UT, giving us roughly a 7 p.m. ET start time for Kentucky in Hoover.

What will Nick Mingione’s lineup look like when the Cats are finally able to take the field? Seventh-year pitcher Darren Williams will get the start on the mound with Jackson Gray (CF), Ryan Waldschmidt (LF), Hunter Gilliam (1B), Emilien Pitre (2B), Devin Burkes (C), Jase Felker (3B), Reuben Church (DH), James McCoy (RF) and Grant Smith (SS) making up the batting order.

Hope you had your ponchos prepared! Time to play ball (eventually).
