Jamarius Dinkins is the latest Kentucky Wildcat to seek greener pastures in the transfer portal. Dinkins shared on social media Tuesday that he will enter the transfer portal when it officially opens Dec. 4.

A 6-foot-5, 290-pound defensive lineman, Dinkins was a three-star prospect in the class of 2021. The Columbus, OH native was a pleasant surprise to Anwar Stewart’s room. While lining up at nose guard, Dinkins used his length to create separation and cause disruption during his limited opportunities on the field.

In his first collegiate appearance as a true freshman, he recorded a half-sack against Louisiana-Monroe. His most productive season was in 2022 when he tallied had nine tackles, a sack and a tackle for loss in nine appearance.

Dinkins slid down the depth chart this fall. Josaih Hayes and North Carolina transfer Keeshawn Silver took a majority of the snaps at nose guard in his place. He still appeared in 11 games and tallied nine tackles.

The Kentucky locker room simply knew Dinkins as “Spider,” a nickname he received at a young age for his long arms. Dinkins struggled with a stuttering problem. Instead of hiding from it, he faced it head on and was excited to share his progress during various media opportunities. He earned respect from me, and so many other members of the media, by never backing away from the crowd of cameras.

Following the conclusion of his redshirt sophomore season, he will have two years to play two seasons of college football. The big, athletic defensive lineman will surely find a nice landing elsewhere.
