Billy Donovan roamed the sidelines at Florida for 19 seasons from 1996-97 until 2014-15. During this time, the Gators became the clear challenger to Kentucky in the SEC. Quite often, this program won the bigger prizes.

During Donovan’s stint in Gainesville, the Gators won six SEC regular season championships, four SEC Tournament championships, went to four Final Fours, and claimed two national titles. The head coach finished his career at Florida with a respectable 17-27 record against Kentucky.

Under Mike White, Florida owned a 4-10 record, but a tough stretch started towards the end of his tenure and has lingered into the start of Todd Golden’s stint in Gainesville. Kentucky owns this SEC series again.

Kentucky now holds a 110-41 all-time advantage against Florida. The Wildcats have won five in a row against the Gators and are 10-1 in the last 11 meetings with the only loss occurring during the COVID-19 season. John Calipari is now 24-9 against the Gators as Kentucky’s head coach.

Donovan owns 41.5 percent of Florida’s all-time wins against Kentucky. At one point, the Gators won seven in a row in this series from 2005-08. Those days are gone. The Wildcats own this SEC series again and will look to complete its fourth season sweep in five years over the Gators on Wednesday night.
