We have reached the 94-day mark on our countdown to Week Zero, but the college football hype content train left the station weeks ago. As the hot summer days approach, we’re receiving small tidbits about the 2022 year on nearly a daily basis. On Wednesday, CBS gave us some intel.

Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson will again be on the call for the major network as CBS will be home to 15 SEC games this season including the league’s championship in December. We’ve got an early look at the scheduling format, and there was some valuable information released.

CBS will not be involved with the league during the first two weeks of the season as the SEC eases itself into conference play. On Sept. 17, CBS on SEC will make its debut as Penn State and head coach James Franklin make a trip to the Plains to take on Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Elsewhere, the yearly Florida-Georgia matchup gets its usual spot on Halloween weekend. Meanwhile, CBS gets a pair of double-headers and decided to pick Oct. 8 and Nov. 12. The former is home to Texas A&M-Alabama as we should expect Jimbo vs. Saban to get the primetime treatment.

From Kentucky’s perspective, the Wildcats have two obvious choices for potential CBS games this season with a matchup with Florida at The Swamp on Sept. 10 and a game against Georgia at home on Nov. 19. We now know that the former will not take place on CBS.

What does that mean? Kentucky will likely face the Gators at night instead of on a hot, sticky day in Gainesville. When taking a look at the SEC slate for Week 2, it’s pretty obvious that the Wildcats have one of the biggest games of the day.

Thanks to five games against FCS/Group of Five competition and three road games against Power Five competition, the SEC and its broadcasting partners have the rights to just three Power Five vs. Power Five contests on this Saturday in September. That should get Kentucky some prime time treatment.

Receiving the Saturday night window on the SEC Network with Tom Hart, Jordan Rodgers, and Cole Cubelic on the call is a possibility as well as getting plugged into the ESPN window at night. Regardless, Kentucky vs. Florida will get much attention for a game that figures to have legitimate stakes in the SEC East.
