The wait has, and always will be, the hardest part. Game week has arrived, but it feels like we are crawling to the start of the 2022 Kentucky football season. Freddie Maggard can’t even watch the drone football facility video. It’s all football or nothing.

Thankfully, today is the final day without a full slate of college football games for the foreseeable future. Thursday there are 16 games on the schedule and nine on television, making the homestretch to Saturday night’s kickoff against Miami (OH) a little less painful.

Kentucky Football Team Captains Announced

Each year the Kentucky football players vote for team captains. There will be seven in 2022, including Chris Rodriguez and Jordan Wright, who will each start the season on the sideline. Another captain, Kenneth Horsey, may be sidelined by an injury. Will Levis, Jacquez Jones, J.J. Weaver and DeAndre Square were also selected team captains. Super Senior Square joins former teammate Josh Paschal as the only three-time team captains in school history.

Trevin Wallace Mic’d Up

Trevin Wallace is not the most outspoken player on the Kentucky defense. The linebacker from Georgia lets his pads do the talking. This video from Kentucky football fall camp perfectly encapsulates that.

Defensive Day for Kentucky Football

Brad White and the rest of the Kentucky defense will step in front of the mics one final time before the season kicks off Saturday night at Kroger Field. Miss all of the action last night? Here’s what offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello had to say.

Full Slate of Podcasts

We are all the way back. Tuesday night the KSR crew unveiled its 2022 Kentucky football season predictions. Before you scoff at some of them, I’d like to remind you that one certain Nick Roush correctly picked all 12 wins and losses in 2021. Who will get them all correct again? You can read it, or watch us break down the schedule on the KSR YouTube Channel.

In other football news, the KSR Football Podcast is BACK. Now in its eighth season, this group of Kentucky football freshmen were not even in middle school when we turned on the podcast equipment for the first time. You could hardly hear that first show. Now you can watch us on YouTube. Look how far we’ve come.

Speaking of YouTube, Jack Pilgrim went LIVE Tuesday night on Sources Say. Just because it was taped live, doesn’t mean you can’t relive all of the Kentucky basketball talk today.

Trivia Night at KSBar and Grille

If you missed out on all of the fun at our “Keep the Rocks Glass” event last night, don’t you worry. Matt Jones has been hard at work, compiling trivia questions for an epic night of entertainment at KSBar and Grille. All of the action begins at 7 pm. Don’t miss it.

Benny Snell spared by NFL Cuts

Lynn Bowden, Yusuf Corker, Justin Rigg and Jon Toth were among the Kentucky football players who just missed the final cut for 53-man NFL rosters. The latter three will likely end up on practice squads, while Bowden seeks out a new destination after a solid preseason.

Benny Snell toed that line for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kentucky’s all-time leading rusher put aside his pride and proved his worth on special teams, displaying excellent coverage skills on kickoff and punt teams. Hard work typically wins out, a great lesson for young Kentucky fans everywhere.

A couple of former Cats in Jacksonville didn’t have to sweat out cuts. In fact, they spent time after their final preseason game talking about their favorite memories as Wildcats.
