On3’s acquisition of Rivals means more cohesion in the recruiting rankings process. We saw the first edition of this new chapter in the internet recruiting era play out on Monday with the new release of the Rivals 300. Kentucky quarterback Matt Ponatoski remained a top-100 recruit in the On3/Rivals rankings but this latest update also adjusted the industry ranking in a big way.

That ranking that weighs all three main recruiting sites (On3/Rivals, ESPN, 247 Sports) to produce a consensus batch of rankings saw nine Kentucky commits improve their position on Monday.

Kentucky players who received a industry ranking bump

  • Messiah Tilson (+22): No. 343 overall to No. 321 overall
  • Jordan Crutchfield (+48): No. 424 overall to No. 386 overall
  • Tyreek Jemison (+134): No. 684 overall to No. 550 overall
  • Lincoln Watkins (+7): No. 604 overall to No. 597 overall
  • Garrett Witherington (+180): No. 978 overall to No. 798 overall
  • Davis McCray (+182): No. 1,079 overall to No. 897 overall
  • Cameron Miller (+435): No. 1,373 overall to No. 938 overall
  • Max Mohring (+277): No. 1,286 overall to No. 1,009 overall
  • Deuce Alston II (+137): No. 1,319 overall to No. 1,182 overall

Vero Beach (Fla.) cornerback Jordan Crutchfield was perhaps the biggest winner going from high three-star to four-star with this latest update. Both of Kentucky’s offensive line commits (Tyreek Jemison, Cameron Miller) each made big leaps. Defensive tackle commit Garrett Witherington was also a notable mover.

Kentucky players who dropped in the industry ranking

  • Matt Ponatoski (-3): No. 257 overall to No. 260 overall
  • Denairius Gray (-96): No. 302 overall to No. 398 overall
  • Dallas Dickerson (-60): No. 466 overall to No. 526 overall
  • Prince Jean (-192): No. 727 overall to No. 919 overall

Matt Ponatoski is holding steady just inside the top 300. The three-star ranking from 247 Sports still his holding down the Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller quarterback. Perhaps the most notable drop came for South Florida wide receiver Denairius Gray after he flipped from Auburn to Kentucky. Dallas Dickerson remained in high three-star territory despite a fall.

Every Kentucky commit is now ranked

Kentucky’s overall team ranking was being weighed down due to some players in the class still needing a ranking. That changed this week. Katy (Texas) High cornerback Isaiah McMillian and Austin (Texas) Lake Travis defensive end Ben Duncum went from unranked in the industry ranking to mid three-star territory.

  • Isaiah McMillian: No. 832 overall
  • Ben Duncum: No. 873 overall

After the dust settled, Kentucky sits with the No. 39 overall class. The Cats have the No. 12 class in the SEC ahead of Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Missouri, and Auburn. UK is currently No. 29 in average star rating.
