Looking for an encouraging stat in the midst of Kentucky’s two-game losing streak? Kentucky has never lost three games in a row in the John Calipari era.

While the Cats have lost back-to-back games nine times over nine seasons, they always rally to snap the streak, winning the third game by an average margin of 14.9 points, per UK’s game notes. Additionally, Kentucky is undefeated vs. Mississippi State since Calipari came to Lexington, winning all eleven contests. As I noted earlier, the last time the Bulldogs beat the Cats was 2009, which was also the last time Kentucky lost three games in a row. When all else fails, remember Billy Gillispie, right?

Not only is history on Kentucky’s side tonight, Calipari has a chance to make a little of his own. With a win, he would pass Tubby Smith for the third most wins in UK Basketball history. Right now the two are tied at 263 behind Adolph Rupp (876) and Joe B. Hall (297).
