Kentucky hosts blue-chip edge Tyreese Fearbry for important visit this weekend

After finishing the 2020 season ranked 113th nationally in sack rate, Kentucky football is on the prowl for edge rushers. Class of 2022 prospect Tyreese Fearby is one of the top candidates on the UK recruiting board to help fill that void.

Ranked as a top-300 prospect per the 247 Sports Composite, Fearbry is a top-10 player in the state of Pennsylvania and a top-15 player at his position. Standing at 6-foot-5 and 217 pounds, this is a lean pass rusher with plenty of room for growth available. Earlier in the recruiting process, Fearbry named a top four — Auburn, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Penn State — and plans to visit all four campuses this June.

Pat Narduzzi and Pitt made a big impression on the edge player this past weekend.

The Panthers have had one of the best defenses in the ACC over the last couple of years while getting three defensive line players selected in the 2021 NFL Draft. That selling point likely struck a note with the hometown product. Immediately after the visit, some predictions started rolling in for the Panthers.

Steve Wiltfong is the Director of Recruiting at 247 Sports, and the chief recruiting analyst logged a Crystal Ball prediction for Pitt in the recruitment of Fearbry immediately after the visit. Pitt’s Hometown Throwdown recruiting event was a success and now it seems like Narduzzi and defensive line coach Charlie Partridge lead for Fearbry.

However, this race is far from over.

KSR has learned that Fearbry will be in Lexington this weekend along with a handful of other 2022 prospects for visits. Dane Key is the headliner, but Fearbry is a big recruitment for the coaching staff. Kentucky needs to address their pass rush in a hurry. The staff has done that by landing blue-chipper Keaten Wade out of Metro Nashville in the class of 2022, but the work is not done.

On tape, Fearbry is a long and lean athlete that likely needs to add weight and strength to his 217-pound frame. However, the athleticism is tantalizing. The lanky athlete plays basketball and wide receiver for Pittsburgh Perry Traditional Academy in addition to his play at edge. However, there is some excellent twitchiness that shows up in his get-off. This combined with a crazy amount of length and a long frame is something most FBS coaching staffs would be more than willing to work with.

With defensive coordinator Brad White leading the recruitment, Kentucky will look to make a big impact on Fearbry this weekend.
