Looking for a safe bet in college football this season? Look no further than the Kentucky Wildcats.

This week, Barton Simmons of 247Sports broke down the teams that are set to withstand the missed time and other adversities college football has seen due to the coronavirus, and he included Kentucky as one of 15 programs that “may be well-positioned for better seasons than you might expect.”

247Sports factored in returning production, head coach continuity, scheme continuity on offense and defense, experience returning at quarterback, and a strong proven culture, among other characteristics.

Among the 15 programs listed, Kentucky was one of the “best bets,” joining the likes of Oklahoma State, Louisville, Indiana, Wisconsin, and North Carolina.

“They may not be flashy but there’s a level of trust that comes with Kentucky and Wisconsin in the 2020 season,” 247Sports said. “Kentucky is 25th in the country in returning production. Wisconsin is 34th. Both will continue to be defensive-minded but will have leadership at quarterback in Terry Wilson and Jack Coan, respectively.”

The other programs included in the feature? Virginia Tech, Illinois, Texas A&M, Nebraska, and Stanford as “smart picks,” Iowa State, Florida, and TCU as teams you “[shouldn’t] forget,” and Northwestern as a “bonus pick.”
