St. Xavier players Kobe Clapper (1), Brayden Reilly (2), Daniel Vollmer (3), Aden Reeder (6) and Grant Hester (60) walk on the field before their football game against Moeller Friday, Sept. 19, 2025.

The recruiting trail has been very quiet since official visits in June ended for the Kentucky football program. After loading up in the transfer portal last offseason, another big free agency class will be required for the Wildcats in the offseason. But we should also expect some flips before the early signing period arrives in December.

Cameron Miller and Grant Grayton were both committed to Big Ten schools at this time last year. Each is seeing some playing time with Kentucky as a true freshman. Could the Cats get out the spatula late for another Big Ten commitment this cycle?

UK officially entered the chat for Wisconsin linebacker commit Aden Reeder on Tuesday.

The Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier senior is the No. 567 overall player in the 2026 Rivals Industry Ranking and the No. 28 overall prospect in Ohio. With Vince Marrow now working for Louisville’s recruiting department in a front office role, it was unclear how UK would handle recruiting in the Buckeye State. A committee approach was likely. Defensive coordinator Brad White is leading the charge in the pursuit of Reeder.

This high three-star recruit has been committed to Wisconsin since May. However, the Badgers are having a brutal season in year three under Luke Fickell. After five consecutive losses, Wisconsin director of athletics Chris McIntosh issued a vote of confidence for Fickell earlier this week. The Badgers are a near five-touchdown road underdog against Oregon in Week 9.

Kentucky only has one linebacker commit in the 2026 high school class is scheduled to lose Alex Afari Jr., Daveren Rayner, and Landyn Watson off this year’s roster. That position is an area of need this roster-building season. UK will try to flip yet another Wisconsin commit after signing Miller last cycle following a long commitment to the Badgers.
