Kentucky Opens as 8-point Underdogs to Florida

There’s a big game in Lexington this week, as the No. 9 Florida Gators travel up to Kroger Field for a highly anticipated matchup with SEC East implications. According to Circa Sports, Kentucky opens as an 8-point underdog to the Gators. The over/under has been set at 51.5.

Kickoff is scheduled for this Saturday at 6:00 p.m. EST on ESPN.

If you ask ESPN’s Football Power Index, the statistics give Florida a 77.4 percent chance to beat Kentucky.

This season, the Wildcats are 3-1 against the spread after covering five and the hook in Columbia last night…albeit with a little 4th down help from Shane Beamer. After Kentucky came out guns-a-blazing in the first two games of the season, UK is split on the over/under in games this season.

As for the Gators, after starting out 0-2 ATS to begin the season, Florida is now 2-2 after covering against Alabama and Tennesee the last two weeks.

Historically against Florida, Kentucky has served pretty well ATS going 4-4-1 in the Mark Stoops era with that magically outright win in the Swamp two years ago. Since the outright win against him in ’18, the ‘Cats are 0-2 against Dan Mullen ATS after a late-game pick-six allowed Florida to cover in 2019 and Kyle Pitts abused Kentucky back in November 2020 for the Gators to cover 24.

Here’s how the last 10 matchups between the SEC East foes have shaken out:
