It may be a one-man show until his staff is finalized, but Mark Pope is a multitasking madman over at the Joe Craft Center. Already today, Kentucky has secured a commitment from Collin Chandler, a 2022 four-star combo guard who spent the last two years on a mission trip. Now, Pope is looking to build a team around Chandler and Travis Perry, the only remaining member of John Calipari’s 2024 recruiting class.

There have been a lot of names thrown out as transfer portal targets. The latest is Stanford transfer small forward Andrej Stojakovic, the son of former NBA All-Star Peja Stojakovic, who told KSR+’s Jacob Polacheck that Kentucky has reached out.

Stojakovic, a Top 25 recruit in the 2023 class and the No. 47 player in On3’s Transfer Portal Rankings, averaged 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 40.9% from the field and 32.7% from beyond the arc. Stojakovic entered the transfer portal on March 19 and has three seasons of eligibility remaining. He is scheduled to visit Cal (the school, not the former coach) this weekend.

Who is Kentucky pursuing beyond Stojakovic? Matt Jones shared what he’s hearing on Twitter this afternoon.

“Kentucky is intentionally keeping the names of some of the Transfer Portal guys quiet initially,” Jones wrote. “There are 6 names I know they have made contact with and seriously engaging…3 in ESPN Top 25 portal rankings and 6 in Top 60 Kentucky is also actively involved with two incoming freshmen.

“When all is said and done, here is my guess at Kentucky’s roster: 3 Freshmen (Perry and Chandler are 2), 2 BYU kids, 2 top 25 from ESPN, 2 26-55 from ESPN, Other role guys.

“A couple of the names that are already out there (Javon Small and Amari Williams) are definite UK targets. But I think a lot of the other names I have seen are not Pope is contacting players but the next 24-48 hours are also about finalizing a staff.”

Here are the latest ESPN Transfer Portal Rankings if you’d like to make some guesses.
