Kentucky Track & Field signs All-American transfer Alexis Glasco

Kentucky track and field have signed Alexis Glasco, a three-time All-American transfer, Head Coach Lonnie Greene has announced.

The junior hurdler reigns from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and spent the last two seasons at Coastal Carolina before entering the portal.

In her two collegiate seasons with the Chanticleers, Glasco has appeared in the 60-meter hurdles, 100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, and both the 4×100 and 4×400 relays.

Glasco boasts quite the resume in her time in South Carolina, including being named a three-time All-American, All-Sun Belt First Team selection, and four-time Sun Belt Champion. She most recently placed 6th in the 100-meters hurdles at the 2023 NCAA Division I Track and Field Championships and holds a personal best of 11.29 (0.9) in the event.

Prior to college, she led her high school, St. Thomas Aquinas to three-straight state championship titles and took first place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.58 at the 2021 FHSAA Class 4A Track & Field State Championships.

Darryl Peterson named Kentucky T&F assistant coach

It’s not just the roster receiving major upgrades. The Kentucky track & field staff is, as well.

In late July, the Wildcats announced the addition of 18-year head coach Darryl Anderson as an assistant to Green’s staff. Leading TCU from 2004-22, he coached 13 individual national champions, 29 individual Big 12 Champions, and 104 All-America selections earned by 62 student-athletes. His teams won three conference championships and he has coached 13 Olympians in his time with the sport.

Beyond his time as a head coach, he served as an assistant at Kentucky, Arizona State, and Kansas State., Now, he’s back in Lexington.

“Coach Anderson brings a wealth of knowledge and a worldwide recruiting base, and an outstanding record as one of the best sprint coaches in the country,” Greene announced. “He is exactly the person we need to maintain our speed and power prowess and position in the SEC and at the national level. I’m excited for him to get started.”

Anderson was previously named 2012 USTFCCCA South Central Region Women’s Head Coach of the Year, Mountain West Conference Women’s Coach of the Year, 2010 Mountain West Men’s Indoor Coach of the Year, 2008 South Central Region and Mountain West Coach of the Year.

“I’m thankful that Coach Greene has given me this opportunity to return to the Bluegrass State and the University of Kentucky,” Anderson added. “I have very fond memories of working at UK with Don Weber and I’m looking forward to the challenge of the SEC.”
