Vanderbilt Stadium undergoing major renovations

If you want to see the Cats vs. the Dores in person, go ahead and get your ticket. Capacity at Vanderbilt’s FirstBank Stadium is reduced from 39,790 to 28,500 this season as the venue undergoes extensive renovations. The south and north end zones are completely gone to make way for a new basketball practice facility, student-athlete dining hall, and stadium premium seating options. The upgrades are part of a $300 million investment and are expected to be completed in 2024.

Until then, Vanderbilt’s stadium, much like the rest of Nashville, is a construction zone. Fittingly, a temporary video/scoreboard is suspended from cranes in one of the end zones during games. The visitor’s locker room is a giant tent, which was the subject of many jokes online after Vanderbilt’s Week Zero game vs. Hawaii, but the tent is equipped with showers and bathrooms and is nicer than Vandy’s old visitor’s locker room, which is saying something.

Tickets for the Kentucky game are still available on Vanderbilt’s website ranging from $75 to $110. Typically, the visitor’s sections are V and U, which are still intact, but, if years past are any indication, you’ll be near blue wherever you sit. There are several road closures, new walking routes, and entrance changes, but we’ll cover those closer to kickoff. For more information, check out Vanderbilt’s website.
