Kyra Elzy is loading up on young talent.

Kentucky Women’s Basketball added a sixth member to its 2022 recruiting class on Friday after Zennia Thomas announced her commitment to the Wildcats. A 6-foot-2 forward out of Warrensville, OH, Thomas chose Kentucky over Arizona State and Ohio. Playing for Warrensville Heights, she averaged 30.6 points and 14.5 rebounds per game as a senior and was named to the All-Ohio Divison III First-Team.

Thomas has signed her national letter of intent, as well.

“We are very excited to welcome Zennia to Big Blue Nation,” Coach Elzy said in UK’s press release. “Z has gone under the radar nationally, but we absolutely love her game. She is athletic and long.   Z is a versatile post that has a great feel for the game. The numbers she averaged her senior season are impressive and are a credit to her hard work and dedication to her game. She is a great addition to our program.”

Thomas first came on the radar a couple of weeks ago after she took an official visit to Lexington. Thomas also received an in-home visit from coach Elzy and associate head coach Niya Butts earlier this year.

Thomas now joins a massive group of incoming freshmen for coach Elzy, who is about to embark on her third year as Kentucky’s headwoman. UK has already received commitments from Tionna Herron (TX), Amiya Jenkins (KY), Cassidy Rowe (KY), Saniah Tyler (MO), and Kennedy Cambridge (TN). Kentucky has also added Buffalo graduate transfer Adebola Adeyeye to next season’s roster.

This won’t be the last addition to the 2022-23 roster this offseason, either. Kentucky WBB excepts to add at least two more prospects through the transfer portal, potentially three.
