When Kyra Elzy was fired in March, it was unknown if Kentucky women’s basketball’s next head coach, now Kenny Brooks, would retain Elzy’s two class of 2024 commitments. The first was 6-foot-5 center Ramiya White out of Butler Traditional in Louisville. She would end up reopening her recruitment on April 5.

Then, there’s Tanah Becker, who committed to UK shortly before Elzy’s firing. While Becker has been highly regarded as one of the best Canadian prospects in the 2024 class, it was still uncertain if she would be retained by Brooks.

However, on Thursday afternoon, Kentucky WBB announced that Tanah Becker has signed with the program. She is the seventh player officially signed with Kentucky for the 2024-25 roster.

Becker, a 6-foot-1 guard, averaged 12.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.4 steals per game for Hamilton Heights, a Christian academy in Chattanooga, Tennessee, as a senior this past season.

She was a key contributor for the 16U Canadian National Team and is even a 2x Canadian All-Star in the WNBA Without Borders camp. On top of that, she was selected to the All-Canada Games team in 2022-23 and 2023-24. That’s basically the Canadian equivalent of being a McDonald’s All-American, but twice. She was also named the MVP of the NBA Global Academy in 2022-23.

Becker joins a backcourt headlined by All-American transfer Georgia Amoore, and she’ll also be able to learn the ropes alongside current Kentucky guards Cassidy Rowe and Saniah Tyler as well. Becker will come in with a lot of raw talent and untapped potential. However, if there’s anyone who can pull the best out of a player and develop them into an absolute rockstar, it’s Kenny Brooks.
