The 2024-25 Kentucky women’s basketball roster is going to look completely different than it did in 2023-24.

Junior point guard Brooklynn Miles has entered her name into the transfer portal, KSR learned Friday morning, making her the eighth Wildcat from last season to do so this offseason. Miles is the second Kentucky player to go into the portal this week, joining freshman guard Jordy Griggs, who did the same on Thursday.

She later confirmed the news on Instagram.

“Coming back home and doing what I love in front of the people and community I love has been a dream come true!” Miles wrote. “Thank you to Coach Elzy and her assistants for taking a chance on me and showing me what it feels like to be invested in. My teammates mean the world to me and the bonds I have created at Kentucky are unmatched. I love you Big Blue Nation, but with that being said, I will be entering my name into the transfer portal.”

Miles averaged 5.8 points, three assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game this past season for Kentucky under former head coach Kyra Elzy, who was replaced by Virginia Tech’s Kenny Brooks. Miles started 27 of 32 games she appeared in for the Wildcats, shooting 38.8 percent overall in 29.8 minutes per contest.

A native of Frankfort, KY, Miles was named 2021 Kentucky Gatorade Player of the Year and 2021 Miss Kentucky Basketball during her senior season at Franklin County High School. The 5-foot-5 floor general started her college career at Tennessee, spending two seasons with the Volunteers before transferring back home to Kentucky last offseason.

Miles will have one year of college eligibility remaining.

This news comes on the heels of Brooks adding three transfer commits throughout Thursday. It started with 6-foot-3 JUCO transfer Amelia Hassett from Australia and then continued with a pair of Brooks’ former players from Virginia Tech: All-American point guard Georgia Amoore and 6-foot-5 sophomore center Clara Strack.

Factoring in Miles’ transfer, Kentucky now has just three players from last season’s team on the roster (Saniah Tyler, Cassidy Rowe, and Amiya Jenkins). Add in the three transfers that Brooks received commitments from on Thursday, along with the Wildcats’ two incoming high school commits, and that puts the 2024-25 roster at eight players with plenty of spots available to fill.

Brooks isn’t anywhere close to being done. Expect more movement as the new head coach continues to settle in.
