Make that two former Wildcats headed to Pittsburgh for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

On Monday, Kentucky women’s basketball transfer Amiya Jenkins announced through Instagram that she has committed to the Pitt Panthers. She joins her UK teammate from the 2023-24 season, Brooklynn Miles, a 5-foot-5 point guard who transferred to Pitt on April 21 after spending one season with the Wildcats.

A rising junior, Jenkins spent the last two seasons with Kentucky. She averaged 7.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game as a sophomore this past season while shooting 41.1 percent from the floor and 32.1 percent from deep.

Jenkins was named 2022 Miss Kentucky Basketball as a member of Anderson County High School. Pitt will now have two Miss Kentucky Basketball winners as Miles won the award in 2021 as a member of Franklin County High School

Out of high school, Jenkins committed to the home-state Wildcats over the likes of Tennessee, Rutgers, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Dayton, Belmont, and others. She appeared in 26 games as a freshman, averaging 3.2 points and 1.3 rebounds in 8.9 minutes per outing before more than doubling her production as a sophomore in 2023-24.

However, Jenkins has elected to carve out a new path for her basketball career. She’ll have two years of eligibility remaining at Pitt.

With Jenkins landing at a new school, only one player from last season’s Kentucky team who entered the portal this offseason has not found a new home, rising sophomore Jordy Griggs. Jenkins and Miles are off to Pitt while the likes of Maddie Scherr (TCU), Ajae Petty (Ohio State), Eniya Russell (Mississippi State), Nyah Leveretter (Georgia), Zennia Thomas (Howard), and Janae Walker (Rutgers) have all committed to different programs as transfers.

Following the dismissal of Kyra Elzy as Kentucky’s head coach, new head coach Kenny Brooks has completely overhauled the roster going into 2024-25. Nine players from last season transferred out with only a pair of rising junior guards (Saniah Tyler and Cassidy Rowe) sticking around for the new era. Brooks has brought in nine new pieces since being hired on March 26.

Below is the current status of Kentucky WBB’s roster. The Wildcats are viewed as a borderline Top 25 program going into year one under Brooks.
